Beard and SSS test in Cinema 4D

It's been a long time since I have updated my blog. Times have been stressful for a good year now. I really wish the economy would pick back up. I hate being uncertain about my job. Oh well, at least I am employed and living in a cool place for now.

So I have been learning Cinema 4D and loving its hair module as well as an awesome SSS shader I downloaded. I am normally a Maya/XSI with Mental ray user so this is way outside my normal knowledge base. But the tools are pretty easy so it hasn't been that hard. I will hopefully make some fast progress now that I have this initial test to make sure I can make hair and have SSS in a good render.

Modeled in XSI and rendered in C4D. This is all still very WIP. There are no textures on the model or sculpting with Zbrush. Thanks to Gonk for the inspiration.

Times a changin...

So I moved to TX about 7 months ago for a job after I got laid off my last one. I hate TX and never want to live here again. So on a good note I got laid off at this job last week. Shitty I know but I really hate this place and I want back to SoCal. Within 1 day I had a job offer. I got a job back in San Diego!!! I am so happy to be able to move back to SoCal and especially San Diego!!! I loved SD when I lived there.

My new job is with old friends and seems to be that it will be very low stress and give me lots of free time outside of working to do my own art and live life. This is not a common thing in the video game industry!! So I am happy and it all worked out. Doesn't mean I am not pissed at the douche bags that hired me 7 months ago only to lay me off now. Thanks for the waste of time and money!!!

What that means to all of you reading this is that once I get settled into my new place mid next month I will be making much more artwork to post! Yay all around good.

And by the way, I just uploaded a ton of artwork to my flickr and deviantart accounts. Stuff from games I worked on last year. Go check it out and leave me some comments. I love comments...

Morning wood- Finally some new artwork!!!!

1 panel comic just to get back into the swing of things. I haven't been drawing much for a while now and I miss it. Street Fighter 4 is taking a back seat for a while.

This was just an idea that came to me the other night. I spent 1 drawing session just drawing horribly but ended up with a head I liked. The next day I really got back into it and finished the first character standing. The next day I sketched out the other guy. Tonight I finished the rest. Normally this would take me 1-2 sessions. Under 3 hours. However, because of how long its been it had taken probably around 12 hours of frustration. Plus to add to it I did all the drawing in Photoshop including the inking. Normally I use Manga Studio to ink because its way better. I don't really know why I didn't use it to ink with. I broke down in the end though and did the text and word balloons with it. So my next target is to finish that little comic I started last year.

Max 3D will come back sooner or later as well(I don't even think I've posted that one here yet). Honestly, after moving to Texas I have been kind of homesick for SoCal. Its really messed with my motivation to do artwork. I feel like I have been exiled out of paradise. But I can't let Texas get the best of me. I will persevere.

Here is a test I did in Zbrush for a penis animating from soft with foreskin moving back and fourth over the head. Then growing into an erect penis. I plan on doing this in XSI when I get the look I want. This was just a test. There are some hickups, black flickering and penetration of the head and foreskin in this animation test but I can fix all of it in the end. So it will only get better.

My Job
My new job is going great so far. I am working with really great people. I don't love Austin TX but for a few years I will be able to deal with it.

Happy Holidays a bit late...

Did this Max Tennyson Santa thing for Christmas but forgot to upload it on the blog. Better late than never. I used Manga Studio 4 to ink it and let me say it is amazing!! I love Manga Studio 4!!! Its missing some strange things but I think by version 5 or 6 it will be all I will need to draw and wont need Photoshop anymore except for filters and image editing. Version 4 added color which is huge for a program originally designed for black and white print. I think if they were to add some of what Sai has to offer and a few things from Photoshop it will be the best. It already is for inking.

I finished coloring the Max line art. I also played around with a version that has film grain to see what it would look like if it had been screen grabbed from TV or DVD. Tried to make it look like a beefed up quality of the cartoon(Ben 10).

Brave new world

New Horizons!!

So I got fired from my job on Tues. It was totally some political BS that I don't want to get into but I have figured out from different people some of the BS that caused it. I might sound pissed and I am a bit because the way in which I was let go was totally unethical and wrong... Maybe even illegal. But honestly I am glad to be out of that place. I think I was being held back there. Now I am free to find something that doesn't suck ass. So I am looking for work now and am able to do some personal artwork in my new freetime!!


I hate bigots! Prop 8 is beyond wrong!

So I am really pissed off about prop 8 passing and I hope this spurs a constitutional amendment to allow federally that gays can marry like everyone else in this country!! I am sick of people telling me that things like prop 8 is just an opinion and not to label or judge people that were for it as biggots! First lets look at the definition of Bigot:One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ. That sounds allot to me like what prop 8 stands for. Pushing ones own beliefs and opinions on others that don't share the same opinion. Yes on 8 people are BIGOTS!!! I wish I had a stack of stickers that say "I am a bigot!" so I could post them on cars I see with save marriage yes on 8 stickers. Imagine if it said that interacial couples could no longer marry or just a whole group of people like jews?! It would be considered one of the most offensive things to go up for voting ever!!! There would be riots!!! But for us fags all we get is told to be tollerant of the same people that can't tollerate us being equal. Fuck that! I am sick of being a good little quiet fag. I feel so betrayed and ashamed of where I live. It makes me sick.

My throat is fine!! Yay!

I got the biopsies report back and everything was in "normal" levels. So I am fine which is great news. BUT, I have to go back next week to get my throat dilated or "stretched" which isn't a fun experience. My lips have lots of blisters on them from when they went down my throat on Monday. Just when that is healing up they will do it again and it will most likely be more painful. If I get more pictures next week I will post them. :)

So I had to go to the ER yesterday and get an endoscopy to remove food that was stuck in my throat. The bad news is the doctor found something strange and took 3 biopsies. He left before I woke up but he told Mark(my husband) that the biopsies were to check for food allergies... I've never heard of checking for food allergies that way. I really hope that wasn't a smoke screen for the C. I've known my whole life that having acid reflux can lead to cancer. I just hope it hasn't happened to me. I hopefully will have some good news tomorrow.

3D
So far I can't find a site or software that will let me easily post 3D artwork that you can spin around interactively like on Posemaniacs.com I say easily because I did find out what they are using. Its a 3D engine for Flash called Papervision. I haven't tested it out yet but I have a feeling it is something that requires lots of scripting knowledge. Scripting knowledge that I don't have. Plus there are lots of limitations to Papervision like poly count and even the way the 3D models polygons are configured. The best option still seems like turntool but its so expensive and requires people to download a free plugin for there web browser. I am going to download the trial and see how it works.

Other Projects
The 6 page short comic I have been working on will be done soon. I had to take a small break from it so it didn't become a chore rather than fun. But it will be done soon.

I am still working on a secret project that is non gay themed or erotic. Its coming along great and still in the conceptual phase and design phase but I am getting more and more confident about it as I work on it and the other side projects. All the other side projects I am doing are to teach me what I need to know to make my secret project come to life and be the greatest thing I have ever done.

Marriage and Prop 8
Life in general has been good. Next Thurs Mark(my husband) and I will be getting "legally" married in CA before the vote for prop 8. I hope Prop 8 does not go through but even if it does it will be nice to have been married legally for even a short time. We are already married under the eyes of God so this is more about civil rights than anything. If you don't know what Proposition 8 is here in CA I'll explain. Basically, the Supreme court of CA said that it is unconstitutional (CA constitution) to deny same sex couples the right of marriage. So, the only way for hate mongers to keep homosexuals down and second class citizens is to add an amendment to the CA constitution which will specifically limit marriage to 1 man and 1 woman. I really don't understand why people that don't have anything to do with gays want to control there lives. If they don't think gays should marry they don't need to get married to someone of the same sex. They don't need to stop others form doing so. It wouldn't affect them in the least. There are these stupid bumper stickers saying something like "Yes on Prop 8, save marriage" or "restore marriage". If these assholes really want to "save" or "restore" marriage they should be fighting divorce. That is the enemy of marriage not people that actually want to get married!

I hear they are going to start a smear campaign saying that if prop 8 doesn't go through that people will be marrying corpses and animals next. I wonder if that actually makes sense to someone with that much hate inside? I don't understand why hate mongers seem to connect being gay with everything immoral. Like wanting to love someone of the same sex equals murder, necrophilia, incest, rape, pedophilia and everything else horrible. Those people must exist in some other reality that I am not a part of.

If you live in CA and support gay and human rights in general it is your duty to go out and vote against Prop 8!

Test

So I have been trying to imbed 3D objects into webpages tonight like the way Posemaniacs.com has that awesome hand viewer thing. They use flash to show off there 3D models. I couldn't find anything like that tool so I explored other options. There is a site called turntool that does it great but its very expensive and not worth the $$. The one I am trying here is a free one from 3DVia that supposedly allows you to upload 3D objects and then imbed them into blogs. We shall see if this works. If it does I will start posting lots of 3D stuff I have made. There is a head, hand and an erect penis. Enjoy.

Oh, and before I forget... If you can or can't see the 3D object post a comment and let me know. Did it work without you having to download anything? Or did you have to download a plugin for it to work? I want to know this stuff so I can see if it's worth my time messing around with.

Just in case you need the plugin to view the models here is a direct link to the site that has it. Its free and the company that developed it did that virtual earth thing for Microsoft so they seem quite trustworthy. My virus scanner and spam blocker didn't pop anything up so it should be 100% safe.

Short Comic "FIrst TIme"

So I am trying to learn how to draw comics with as much manga influence as I can. I am working on this 6 page short story about safe sex and a young guys first sexual experience. The first 3 pages are done and the last 3 are almost laid out. I might do a cover for it to. I did this one in strict 6 traditional panel page format so I could focus on the story telling. Its really helped me allot.

All sketched in Photoshop and inked in Manga Studio.

Humble animation beginings...

So I took the pixel artwork I did the other day and started learning Anime Studio. Here is an animation test. I have a long way to go but this is great progress for my first couple of hours learning the software.

Long time no Post

Hey! Its been a while since I have posted artwork. I have been super busy with a comic book I am creating. Its taking up all my free time. Its not gay related or porn at all. Its actually what I would call Shonen (Japanese). Its like action adventure manga. I have been creating my own world of characters and want to make a comic book. I want to try and get it published so I have been keeping it secret. But fear not I will post some older stuff here to supplement.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Hairy "Men" art can be viewed as Male. More like Men=Male. I have some anthro artwork that I was doing a time back to try and adapt a new style. I wanted to go more anime/manga/cartoon and making the initial steps was very hard and frustrating. So I decided to draw animal characters so they would have to be cartoony. It worked and I was very easily able to adapt to a new style. I also joined Furaffinity because there are TONS of great artists on there. I just love furry artwork. Its cute and funny. I think there is a strange stigma to furry anything. Like you have to be some crazy ugly fat person with no social skills in a fur suit going to furry conventions having orgies all the time to like furry artwork. While I am sure those people exist, not all the people that enjoy the artwork are like that. Even people that call themselves furries don't have to be like that. Anyway, I like the artwork allot so I have drawn some of it and want to share it on here.

Allot of the artwork I have done of furry anthro characters are of peoples characters on Furaffinity. Here are some of them. I use Photoshop and Manga Studio for almost everything.

I did this as an art trade for Alexds1 on Ygallery. This is Luca a short dictator from Alexds1's comic. Turned out pretty good. Alexds1 really liked it so thats what matters. :)

Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Here is my latest. Jet from Cowboy Bebop. I have included the line art and the finished color version. I used Photoshop to do the initial sketch then inked it in Manga Studio. After finishing the line art I brought it back into Photoshop to finish the coloring. It was allot of fun. Took about 16 hours total.

Mario!!

A few years ago I did my version of Mario. A more realistic and hunky version, but I always liked the way the cartoon version looked. So I decided to draw him in the style he is normally drawn in. It wasn't as easy as it looks. I've tried to imitate other cartoon styles and many are really easy but this one is a bit more subtle and hard to nail down. I am going to draw him some more to get better at the style.

Alex Louis Armstrong Colr finished!

Finally got enough time to finish Alex Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist. I did the color version on Friday night but was busy Sat and most of Sun. So I finished it tonight. I think I want to do a version where he is wearing his pants so I can post it on Deviantart. I'm really happy how it turned out. What do you think?
